The one thing I love about Charlotte is the magic you feel when you're uptown in the city. There are people walking into restaurants, bars, museums, and sometimes just enjoying a stroll. The best thing about the city is that it's alive and it's beautiful. I had my first indoor wedding this past Saturday at Foundation for the Carolinas, which is an art gallery that has a spectacular 4th floor open window room with a balcony that was perfect for having a wedding. It was modern yet elegant and the view was truly to die for. I have to say this is now one of my favorite venues. The food featured was catered by Queen City Catering and it was delicious. The cake was 4 layers of chocolate cake with a butter cream coating and hints of cream cheese between the layers. Everything about the wedding including the food was charming and classic, but still modern and chic. I have to say I'm enjoying my internship..maybe a little too much!

King of Pops and JJ's Red Hots
A friend introduced me to King of Pops, which is a business that sells homemade pop-sickles around the Charlotte area. The first time I tried it I had the key lime pie pop-sickle and the second time the stand was at JJ's Red Hot's in Sound End and I had the banana pudding. In both of these pop-sickles there were real ingredients. There was graham cracker crust in the key lime and real bananas and vanilla wafers in the banana pudding pop-sickle. In one word the pop-sickles were DELICIOUS and only $2.50 each. I also tried JJ's Red Hot's, which is a hot dog restaurant that specializes in making hot dogs with interesting toppings. I had the El Ranchero hot dog which featured ingredients such as onion rings and pickled cucumbers. It is such a fun and inviting atmosphere where creativity thrives. I recommend that everyone try both of these yummy places!
Grandfather Vineyards in Boone, NC
From the moment I arrived at Grandfather Vineyards, I fell in love. It was absolutely beautiful, a perfect spot for an outdoor wedding. I went with Beautiful Day Weddings (my current wedding coordinating internship) to help assist in coordinating Chris and Amissa's wedding. We visited on Friday for the rehearsal and when we were done, the groom bought us a bottle of wine to enjoy outside on the patio. On the following day was their wedding, which turned out beautiful and was catered by Gadabouts. Gadabouts brought prime rib, sweet potato biscuits with ham and apple butter, cheese stuffed mushrooms, and spinach artichoke dip. It was A-mazing! I literally did not want to leave and I hope I will get to visit again soon! Best venue ever!

I attended my first wedding of the year last night for my cousin and her new husband. I just had to take a picture of the awesome wedding cake! I'm so excited to begin my internship with a wedding coordinator this summer, and attend many more weddings! Cheers!

Sushi & Krispy Kreme in one night? YES
I'm back in Raleigh ya'll! I decided to visit home for the weekend and tonight I went out with my best gal to one of my favorite places to get sushi..Kanki! It was too die for (as always), and afterwards we stopped for a latte and a hot doughnut from the classic Krispy Kreme. It was a great night to say the least!

Cupcake love
Yesterday I decided to explore the South End neighborhood a little more since I don't get a chance to go there often ( I'm in the University area). So I visited a few shops and I ended up coming across a very cute bakery called Sweet Lorraine's Bakery. Once I saw the cupcakes I knew I wanted to try them. I got the strawberry cupcake with white chocolate buttercream frosting and the chocolate cupcake filled with chocolate ganache and frosted with a peanut butter buttercream. To top it off, the cupcake was drizzled with chocolate syrup and topped with roasted peanuts. Both were a true delight. I will surely being going back to Sweet Lorraine's!

The Herban Legend
Being hungry on the UNC Charlotte campus is never a bad thing when the Herban Legend is on site. Many times I have seen this food truck and wondered what it was. Today, after seeing some tweets on Twitter praising the food, I had to check it out for myself. The first thing I noticed was the aroma, which was delightful might I add. Next, I looked at the menu for the day, which consisted of about 7 or 8 different plates to choose from. Even though there were only 7 or 8, I had the most difficult time deciding. Why? Because literally every single thing on the menu sounded like something I would love to eat! After standing and staring at the menu aimlessly for about 5 minutes, I decided to ask the woman working the truck for a recommendation. Her response was what she called the most popular food item; the shawarma. The shawarma is an Arabic style seasoned grilled chicken middle eastern flatbread with Tzatziki sauce, tabouleh, tomatoes, and french fries. Now I'm not going to try and find out what all of those ingredients are because after one bite nothing else mattered but the blast of flavor I got. It was seriously the best chicken wrap I've ever had and I'm not exaggerating. Being the food connoisseur that I believe I am, it takes a lot for me to really love something. Don't get me wrong, I'll eat almost anything! But loving something is a different story. This wrap was love. The only thing I regret about my my visit at the Herban Legend today is not going sooner.

A passion for good food
For as long as I can remember, I've had a passion for food. My friends always laughed when I would describe (with great detail) a recent dish I had tried. They told me I could take a simple food and describe it so well that their mouths were watering afterwards. I've searched far and wide for something to write about that I feel passionate towards, and I believe I have found it. When I visit a new restaurant, try a new dessert, or whip up a new recipe, I feel on top of the world and I get excited. I want to tell everyone, and I mean EVERYONE about my new discovery. So why wouldn't I base my blog around it? Of course I'll probably get off topic and include other things that may not always be about food, but for the most part, I want to give people food they can talk about and share with friends. I hope that through this page you can find new restaurants to try, yummy recipes to make, and begin your journey to a tasteful and delicious life...Bon Appetit!
